After assisting Team CM to victory at the Noosa Festival last week, Mitch Surman has taken his talents to Kingscliff and the 2011 Malfunction.
Mitch illuminated the event with his explosive surfing, progressing his way through the heats with confidence and landed himself a challenging finals berth to make even the most stalwart of competitors quake in their booties.
Unlike the Noosa event, Kingsliff produced some significant surf for the competition and Mitch used his waves to full effect. Up against former and current world champions, Mitch drew Taylor Jensen, Josh Constable and Jackson Close, Mitch didn’t back down for a second and it was only the efforts of Jensen that escaped his grasp.
Silver medal to Mitch, and a bucket-load of kudos and respect for taking on the best of the best and rising to the challenge. The win now places Mitch in 3rd place overall on the ASP Australia rankings.
